Paul Buccat's Binder
Paul's name and title are stamped directly into the leather within a hand carved banner. Each letter is hand painted metallic gold and outlined with metallic copper for contrast.
Large nautical anchor w/ shield crest overlay and chain. All custom carved, embossed and hand painted. Leather is dyed a medium burgundy brown. Anchor & Chain : Metallic Gold Shield: Metallic Silver, Red, Blue. Thread: Black, waxed, saddle stiched by hand. Closure: Polished Nickel Snaps Turn Lock Bag Clasp on strap (antique nickel). Back Cover Hand carved and embossed. Image is from painting shared by Paul depicting the boat he served on. If the artwork can be penciled, it can be carved into leather for a personal touch unique to the owner.
The Spine of Paul's binder features his profession with the scales and overlying shield (Chief Investigator). The scales are hand carved, embossed, and painted with metallic silver. The outline of the shield is metallic gold and the face is metallic copper with a light brushing of silver to provide a reflective glare look. The cross anchors is a familiar rating badge for the Boatswain's mate. The Anchors are hand carved and embossed, then hand painted in metallic silver outlined in black antique. Right flap closure overlaps under the front cover. Closure strap is unfinished in this picture. Illustrated is the closure strap attached with an antique colored brass rivet and (not pictured) hand sewn with black waxed thread. After, the carry handle is attached. Inside of binder is lined with a soft and supple Bison leather. Black leather supports held in with brass colored rivets. The Leather strut holding the chicago screws is held in with removable Chicago screws rather than rivets in case they ever ned to be replaced. Paper (3-hole punch) is mounted onto x3 Chicago screws. Inside cover is mounted a concho for the U.S. Coast Guard.
